Do we earn to feed politicians and corruption

In countries such as US, employed person pays a tax of ~40% and gets financial security and insurance covered. Whereas in India, we pay 30% as income tax and dont get anything. In addition to these taxes, we also have to pay the service taxes (sometimes 25%), education cess, etc. In a nutshel, we are paying ~50% of our... income in the form of various taxes. Is it justified?

Most of us also dont think of the type of taxes which we either pay directly or indirectly to run our country. I think everyone is concerned about cutting down export duty, import duty, excise duty, etc. but no voice has been raised from service sector to reduce the Income tax! :-(
